Rotameter

Rotameter

A flow measuring device that indicates the rate of fluid flow in a pipe.

A Rotameter is a simple, reliable instrument used to measure the flow rate of liquids or gases in a pipeline. It operates based on a vertically tapered tube and a float that rises or falls depending on the fluid flow rate. As the fluid moves through the tube, the float stabilizes at a point where the upward force of the fluid equals the downward gravitational force. The flow rate is read directly from a scale marked on the tube. Rotameters are commonly used in water treatment plants to monitor and control flow rates of feed water, chemicals, or air, offering real-time visual feedback and ensuring operational efficiency.
